Chaenomeles, the fruit of the Chinese flowering quince, is utilized in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for its analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic and astringent properties, and has also been shown to aid in digestion. For implementation of quality control processes, Chinese Pharmacopoeia has released the assay of oleanolic acid and ursonic acid of the herbal plant.
