Elemental analysis of natural samples – such as rocks, soils, sediments, and plants – is essential, routine testing in geochemical laboratories, since the elemental composition of these materials plays an important role in geological investigations, the development of mineral resources, as well as environmental protection. The most common technique for major and trace elemental analysis of geochemical samples is inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) thanks to its ability to simultaneously measure most elements over a wide concentration range with low detection limits.
This work demonstrates the ability of the Avio® 560 Max fully simultaneous ICP-OES to perform high-throughput, accurate, stable analyses of geochemical samples, leveraging the integrated High Throughput System (HTS), which delivers five times faster sample throughput by reducing sample uptake and washout times, compared to conventional sample introduction systems.
