The correct balance of cross-linked glutaraldehyde (GA) is necessary to render a replacement biological heart valve viable for transplant - too little and the valve may not be inert or stable enough, too much may lead to rejection of the transplant. Monitoring the GA content is therefore crucial, and this application note demonstrates the ability to meet Chinese Pharmacopeia regulatory requirements for the analysis of DNPH-derivatized GA using an LC 300 instrument and Epic C18 SD column.
