The Invitrogen SuperScript First Strand Synthesis System for RT-PCR Automated on the JANUS G3 PCR Workstation

Introduction

Quantitative PCR (qPCR) is an important laboratory technique to study the amplification of a specific DNA molecule in real time throughout the PCR process. The Invitrogen SuperScript First Strand Synthesis system for RT-PCR uses purified poly(A)+ or total RNA as a base to synthesize first-strand cDNA. This RT-PCR kit requires a starting material of 1 ng to 5 µg of total RNA. This kit can be used with any PCR enzyme and can be used to accurately quantify specific mRNA from a small number of cells.

The JANUS G3 PCR Workstation enables traceable and reproducible pre-real time PCR sample preparation for high throughput workflows. This automated workstation performs accurate and reliable master mix prep, serial dilutions and PCR plate preparations for 96 or 384 well plates. The JANUS G3 PCR workstation’s deck layout contains all the labware required for PCR and qPCR plate preparation such as reagent cooling adapters for master mix reagents. This standardized workstation will produce high quality data quickly and reliably while reducing hands-on time in PCR preparation workflows.
