Mixed lineage kinase domain-like protein is encoded by the MLKL gene in murine species. This protein plays a critical role in tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-induced necroptosis, a programmed cell death process, via interaction with receptor-interacting protein 3 (RIP3) key signaling molecules in the necroptosis pathway. Inhibitor studies and knockdown of this gene inhibit TNF-induced necrosis. High levels of this protein and RIP3 are associated with inflammatory bowel disease in children.
The AlphaLISA® SureFire® Ultra™ total mouse MLKL assay is a sandwich immunoassay for the quantitative detection of mouse MLKL (phosphorylated and non-phosphorylated) in cellular lysates, using Alpha Technology. This assay is intended to be used for normalization phosphorylation studies.
