Interleukin 2 (IL-2), formerly known as T-cell growth factor (TCGF), is a 15 kDa immunoregulatory lymphokine produced by lectin- or antigen-activated T cells and capable of inducing the thymic expansion of recently activated antigen-specific T lymphocytes. However, since T-cell immunity can be elicited to various agents in the absence of IL-2 in vivo, it is currently thought that the main non-redundant activity of this cytokine is the induction of the suppressor function of CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells (Treg) in peripheral lymph nodes to ensure suppression of autoreactive T cells that escape negative selection. Moreover, studies suggest that IL-2-mediated regulation of Treg cells is important in the prevention of type 1 diabetes and autoimmune disease.
AlphaLISA technology allows the detection of molecules of interest in a no-wash, highly sensitive, quantitative assay. In an AlphaLISA assay, a biotinylated anti-analyte antibody binds to the Streptavidin-coated Donor beads while another anti-analyte antibody is conjugated to AlphaLISA Acceptor beads. In the presence of the analyte, the beads come into close proximity. The excitation of the Donor beads causes the release of singlet oxygen molecules that triggers a cascade of energy transfer in the Acceptor beads, resulting in a sharp peak of light emission at 615 nm.

The introduction of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) in the early 1970’s offered researchers a non-radiometric immunoassay platform without compromising sensitivity. Over the last 50 years scientists have made huge strides in disease research and drug discovery and a demand for greater ...
Alpha (Amplified Luminescent Proximity Homogeneous Assay) technology is a bead-based, no-wash alternative to traditional ELISAs. Instead of detection with an HRP substrate, the Alpha assay signal is generated by the excitation of an Eu+-coated bead that has been ...
Cytokines play an essential role in inflammatory processes, leading to their involvement in viral and bacterial infections, as well as the pathology of many diseases including cancer, autoimmune conditions, neurodegenerative disorders, and atherosclerosis. As such, cytokines are often used eithe ...
Product brochure for the Alpha Technology, a versatile, no wash, homogeneous assay technology that's suitable for a broad range of applications.
Cytokines are implicated in the pathology and outcome of disease states across all therapeutic areas. When preparing to run cytokine assays, it is key to consider a multitude of factors that impact the assay performance, such as sample dilutions and cell culture format.

Cytokines play a vital role in both innate and adaptive immunity and are known for their ability to exert diverse functions on other cells. Identification of cytokines, their receptors and signaling pathways, and application of these novel observations to the clinic has made the development of ne ...
Biomarker levels were measured directly in CulturPlates-96 and-384 in a simple, fast, all-in-one-well AlphaLISA assay format. The elimination of transfer and wash steps simplifies cellular assays, reduces variability and significantly reduces hands-on time and costs associated with consumables. Int ...
The AlphaLISA® assay is a homogeneous immunoassay alternative to classical ELISA. AlphaLISA assays were originally utilized to detect analytesin cell cultures upernatants or serum/plasma samples.
