Conversion to other salts:
The dipotassium salt may be converted to that of another cation by passing it through a small column of exchange resin in the form of the desired cation. A 1-2ml quantity of throughly washed resin is generally satisfactory. Necessary precautions should be exercised to minimize any breakdown from occurring during this procedure.
Removal of Solvent:
An aliquot or the entire sample can be taken to dryness by directing a gentle stream of inert gas (nitrogen) over the surface of the solution. The temperature of the solution should not be allowed to exceed 20°C during the drying process, and the compound should not be permitted to remain in the solid state any longer than necessary.
