Our frozen, irradiated AequoZen cells express a variety of GPCRs which all couple to a calcium response. Upon GPCR stimulation and subsequent calcium binding to the aequorin oxidation of coelenterazine leads to emission of light. No cell culture is required prior to testing, for these frozen cells.

Frozen Cells validated for calcium testing: Chemerin Receptor 2 (GPR1), human recombinant, in CHO-K1 host cell. We provide one vial of frozen cells (10 million cells/vial). Some of our Frozen cells may be restricted for sale in specified countries. Please inquire at your local sales office for more information. You are authorized to utilize these frozen cell preparations one time only. Any attempt to transfer, re-use, or propagate these cells is expressly unauthorized and a violation of the product terms and conditions of sale.
Features:
The AequoScreen technology is a generic GPCR technology which can be used with Gs, Gi and Gq coupled GPCRs and calcium coupled ion channels. Following receptor stimulation, increases in intracellular calcium enable measurement of the resulting flash luminescence signal.
The frozen cells approach to functional testing consists in the dissociation of cell culture from testing. That means that we will culture the cells and freeze them with an optimized protocol to stop all replication. These cells are then stored in liquid nitrogen or simply in a -80°C freezer, thawed and used directly in a functional, cellular GPCR test with previously validated performance.

Aequorin is a photo protein originating from the jellyfish Aequorea Victoria. The apo-enzyme (apoaequorin) is a 21 kD protein, which requires a hydrophobic prosthetic group, coelenterazine, to be converted to aequorin, the active form of the enzyme. This enzyme possesses 3 calcium binding sites which ...
Aequorin-based Ca2+ assays represent a new paradigm in drug discovery research for cell-based assays for Ca2+-coupled GPCRs and ion channels. In the aequorin assay, cells co-expressing apoaequorin and the target receptor are first incubated with the co-factor coelenterazinein order to reconstitute t ...

Aequorin and Photina cell lines – the alternative calcium flux assay. PDL-coated microplates improve your performance
FroZen, -irradiated cells, are a well established product, that can be ordered as a consumable, and readily used to perform Aequorin functional assays (AequoZen) or cAMP assays (cAMPZen). While, for the G s–coupled receptors, an increase of cAMP is detected in such an assay, for G i-coupled receptor ...
