Phalloidin is a toxin isolated from the fungus Amanita phalloides. It is a bicyclic peptide that specifically binds and stabilizes actin filaments.
Fluorescent Phalloidin derivatives have been extensively used for monitoring actin expression and dynamics of the cytoskeleton network. The study of actin cytoskeleton regulation is of interest in the context of several pathophysiological processes such as cancer and neurodegenerative diseases as well as fibrosis and vascular diseases.
PhenoVue Fluor 488 - Phalloidin can be used to vizualise actin filaments in indirect immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry, as well as high-content analysis and screening applications.
